Make a Joyful Noise!

People of all ages and musical abilities are invited to play together in the midst of the Tallgrass prairie.

Joyful Noise

Spontaneity, music, family and love of nature come together for a whole day in the Flint Hills. Whether you play a cello or kazoo you will feel welcome. The day will feature sessions ranging from introductory to advanced in string, percussion, brass, woodwinds and voice. Instruments loaned for the day by Flint Hills Music of Emporia.

A full day of prairie activities for both adults and children include nature walks led by Audubon of Kansas and knowledgeable prairie enthusiasts. Click here to see the day’s schedule. Sessions are designed for both parents and children. Horseback riding in the hills and a group performance are special features of the day. The finale of the day is an evening concert by Emporia Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jeremy Starr with guest artist and renowned cellist Eugene Friesen.

This special event will take place at Camp Wood YMCA in Elmdale, Kansas, a world-class, family-friendly facility with spacious, interior, all-weather spaces.
